Douala: journalist kidnapped by yet unidentified people

Gildas Tchoffo Fotouo popularly known as GTF was on the night of Thursday February 29, 2024, abducted by unknown individuals in the Ndokoti neighborhood sitated in Douala.
Information from family sources say the CEO of the GTF Media Group was abducted when negotiating a deal with an alleged client. The client whose identity is still unknown, had called the young radio animator on phone for an appointment at Ndokoti where they were supposed to negotiate a deal.
“At the beginning the man on the phone said he wanted GTF to emcee a traditional ceremony in Bafang – the installation of a Chief at the Palace of Bafang. Seeing the importance of mastering the Bafang local language, GTF submitted a proposal for him to be accompanied by someone who masters the local language. A proposal approved by the unknown client on phone,” his worried wife told us.
“In the course of their discussion on phone, the man added that apart from the traditional event, there would be a wedding ceremony in the same locality and wished GTF hosts the two events. That is how they fixed an appointment for 9pm at Terminus,” the lady added.
The same source adds that the Journalist declined going to the area for security reasons and Ndokoti was chosen as location. At the appointment site, the young journalist was abducted and taken towards Ndokoti, the lady adds.
The last information she had was a message received from her husband saying “they are taking me to Bafoussam”. Since then efforts to reach the former animator at Radio Estuare in Douala, have been fruitless. No ransom has been demanded ever since he disappeared.
