Douala: fire ravages several houses in Bepanda

Atleast four houses have been burnt to ashes due to a fire outbreak which occurred at the Bepanda neighborhood in Douala, Littoral region. The incident reportedly occurred at about 6pm on October 31st,2022.

According to one of the victims, they were seated comfortably in their homes when suddenly the fire broke out:

“We were watching television when suddenly we saw fire on the roof… we couldn’t recover anything. Same with my neighbor we just thank God we were able to save our children.”

Eyewitnesses say it was due to the intervention of some inhabitants who supplied water on the site that the fire could be subdued.

Alerted, the elements of the national firefighting brigade, arrived at the scene and struggled to control the fire from spreading to other houses. Reports reveal that significant material losses were recorded.

Investigations are on to determine the real cause of the fire.
