Douala: Custom officials seize 108 cans of drugs
The psychotropic (medicines that damage the brain and cause mood swings) drugs which weighed 55kg had been sealed in cans and declared as chocolates and African spices. Unfortunately for the owners of this narcotic business line, customs officials at the Douala International Airport were vigilant and confiscated the said goods.
After proper checks, it was disclosed that the cans contained methamphetamines. They are central nervous system stimulants used mainly as recreational drugs and they were heading to the Philippines via the Ethiopian Airlines company.
Investigations have been launched to get details on this drug trafficking line.
This is the third apprehension of drugs with this international airline in Cameroon in 2022 only. In January, 4.5kg of cocaine were seized from a woman coming in from Nigeria. Six months after, 7.9kg of cocaine were again confiscated from a man who had boarded the Ethiopian airlines from Nigeria.
