Russia to construct power plant in Burkina Faso

A Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, between Burkina Faspo and Russia, was signed in Moscow on Friday, October 13, 2023, for the production of atomic energy that will be used for peaceful purposes, Burkina 24 confirmed.

The agreement was signed by Burkina Faso’s Minister of Energy, Mines and Quarries, Simon Pierre Boussim, and the Director General of Russia’s National Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom, Nikolay N. Spasskiy, the Burkinabe Information Agency revealed.

The signing follows earlier discussions between the military ruler in Burkina Faso, Ibrahim Traore, and Russian President, Vladimir Putin, during the July 2023 Russia-Africa Summit.

The leader intends to increase energy resources in his country and provide for millions of Burkinabes in need of energy for survival.
