Douala: alleged barrister at law locks-up 18-year-old adopted son in dog cage for days
A man who is said by neighbors to be a lawyer at the Cameroon Bar Council is in Police custody Douala after they rescued him from an angry mob on October 19, 2023.
It is alleged he chained his adopted son, 18 years of age, and caged him for days like a dog in his compound.
“The man who is a lawyer said the child has been stealing a lot in the house. So he decided to punish him. No matter what the child has done, he should not be given such an inhumane punishment. It’s so cruel,” an inhabitant of the neighborhood narrated.
It was the cry of the boy that drew the attention of some locals who discovered and raised alarm, attracting to the compound, scores of angry people. Thanks to their intervention, the boy was set free and the police alerted.
