Delegates attending the 15th conference of Commonwealth Speakers and Presiding Officers, CSPOC-African Region, have called on the continent to unite in order to stop homosexually and preserve African values.

These issues were raised by speakers and presiding officers of 21 countries of the Commonwealth at the official opening of the conference which took place in Yaounde on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 under the theme, “African Parliaments and Agenda 2063”.

According to the Speaker of Parliament of Ghana who doubles as the President of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, the conference comes to give a united voice to Africa on many issues including the fight against homosexuality which is a great challenge for the African People.

He says the traditional and social identity of the African people are challenged by homosexuality propagated by the western world.

“I think it is a movement that is meant to end the world. I believe if the concept of marriage moves away from man and woman, or woman turning to themselves to marry cats and dogs, then we will not give birth to children again and there will be no future for the world,” the Ghanaian House Speaker said.

The ceremony was chaired by the Prime Minister Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute who represented President Paul Biya.

In his keynote remark, the PM stated that the Cameroon Development plan aligns with Agenda 2063 of the African Union. He further said the government is actively implementing the second phase of its ten-year development strategy.

The conference which will end on July 22, 2023, involves speakers presiding from 21 countries from across Africa.
