CWA counts flowers of hope 60 years after creation

The Catholic Women Association has been commended as a tool of hope and resilience for thousands of women in over 60 years of existence.
Testimonials of the groups impact especially in the face of ongoing socio-political hostilities in the Far North, North West and South West Regions were presented in thanksgiving on Wednesday July 24, 2024.
The Apostolic Nuncio to Cameroon and Equitorial Guinea, Archbishop Jose Avelino Bettencourt presiding over holy mass to mark the event at the Divine Mercy Co- Cathedral Buea expressed satisfaction and grace to God at the works of the women over these years.
The role of the Christian organisation was appluaded in spurring the women of Cameroon to face life purposefully. With a sense of moral uprightness, said the representative of the Minister of Women’s Empowerment and the Family.
Amongst the thousands who turned out, and over 27, 000 members celebrating across the globe was the association’s lead founding member, Lady Anne Foncha at 101 years.
“We have boasted women’s self confidence especially in the face of the ongoing crisis in the North West and South West,” appreciated Judith Chiatoh, current national president of the Association.
Adding to their empowerment center in Bamenda they are currently raising another in Yaguoa, Far North Region as part of the celebrations. The group created in Buea, 1964 with a membership of nine has spread the world over.
