Courageous Former CRTV Journalist and SDF Communicator Director, Beatrice Anembom Monju, Dies
The lady whose personality was greatly admired n she served as a reporter with state media and at the same time was appointed as the Communication Director at the Social Democratic Fron Party, SDF, from 2007 to 2018.
She was a figurehead in all SDF communications and often anchored televised debate programs “Espace Politique” on state media.
The iron lady, charismatic in language and action, suffered from a heart attack a few years ago. This has been the key issue that led to her demise in Douala on Tuesday, January 11, 2022.
A history teacher and SDF militant, Ndifor Richard has paid tribute to Beatrice Anembon, who was the only woman arrested among many men on their critical stance against the state.
“Mrs. Annembom Monju was the only female Journalist among the famous Prison Graduates from the Kondengui Central Prison. In the early 90s Annembom together with Boh Herbert, Ntemfack Ofege, Sam Nuvella Fonkem, etc. were all whisked off directly to the Kondengui Central Prison from the Studios of Cameroon Calling after a very critical edition of the program. A very dangerous risk they took at a time it was forbidden to even mention the president by name. The security officers who whisked them off were shocked to realize there was a woman among this group of courageous journalists. In reading out the names, the security officer referred to her as “Monsieur Anembom Monju” before realizing that she was indeed a woman. Annembom Monju will later resign from CRTV with dignity on grounds of the network’s censorship and false, fabricated news being fed to the public.” Ndifor Richard wrote.
