Coton Sport joins historic launch of African Club Association
By Biwah Bryan
On November 30th, Coton Sport officials, including President Fernand Sadou, gathered with their peers in Cairo to participate in the launch of the African Club Association (ACA) led by Dr. Patrice Motsepe, president of CAF.
The association’s mission is to protect and promote the interests of African football clubs, making them commercially viable, globally competitive, and profitable.
Additionally, the ACA aims to build partnerships with sponsors, the private sector, and governments to create stadiums and infrastructure that meet CAF and FIFA standards for each of the 54 CAF Member Associations.
During the launching, Yanga SC’s Hirsi Said was elected the pioneer president of the African Club Association, with Jessica Matoung from South Africa’s Kaizer Chiefs serving as first vice president and Paul Bassey from Nigeria’s Akwa United as second vice president.
Kenya’s capital Nairobi was also designated as the institution’s headquarters, where it will focus on respecting and crediting referees, match commissioners, and VAR operators.
