Song: “Cameroon world cup friendly games are opportunities to detect new talents”

It is official, Eric Maxime Tchoupo Moting, Michael Ngadeu and Andre Frank Zambo Anguissa will not be part of the Indomitable Lions’ squad to the friendlies scheduled ahead of the FIFA world cup in Qatar this year.

Indomitable Lions’ Head Coach Rigobert Song Bahanag during a press conference organized this September 12 2022 in Yaounde explained why some names are not on the list:

“Three good players are very active in their clubs now. Tchoupo Moting just recovered from an injury, while Ngamaleu and Anguissa are needed in their foreign clubs. They have their places in the team and we prefer to use them in November during the world cup” he said.

The head coach who confirmed the 26 man squad for the September 23rd and 25th friendly games added that while these important players are busy in their foreign clubs, it is also important for people to focus on the positive aspect which is the opportunity to discover new talents so that only the best get to be at the world cup.

Of the 26 players, 3 goalkeepers have been selected among them with Andre Onana as the key shot stopper. Fabrice Ondoa who now plays with FK Auda does not figure on the list.
