Clubs from Cameroon receive 2022 FIFA World Cup compensation
DOUALA-The World football governing body FIFA has shared the sum of $209 million among 440 clubs from 51 countries across the world, whose players participated in the World Cup in Qatar.
Cameroon received $401,515 (234,384,381.25 Central African CFA Franc) to be divided between Coton Sport of Garoua, Marou Souaibou’s team at the time, and Colombe of Dja et Lobo and Apejes, Ngom Mbekeli’s former clubs. The two players are now plying their trades in Orlando Pirates, South Africa, and Sheriff Tiraspol in the Moldovan Super Liga respectively.
Each of the 837 footballers at the Qatar World Cup, made a daily amount of $10,950 regardless of how many minutes they played during the competition. According to FIFA, the total per player will be divided and distributed to the club, or clubs, with which the player was registered in the two years leading up to the tournament in Qatar.
The highest amount paid to a single club is $4,596,445, allocated to Manchester City, followed by Barcelona with $4,538,955 and Bayern Munich with $4,331,809.
For the 18 African clubs represented, Wydad Casablanca of Morocco took the highest share of $1,405,305.
