Cholera and Covid19 epidemiological situations in Cameroon.

Cameroon in the just ended week has registered 95 new covid cases with some persons hospitalized.
A total of 120.362 persons have tested positive for the virus in Cameroon since the country recorded its first case in March 2020.

These figures were given by public health minister Dr Manaouda Malachie this July 28th during a cabinet meeting.

With 118.293 recoveries, the country can boast of a recovery rate of 98.3% and a mortality rate of 1,6%. In terms of vaccination against the pandemic, 1.532.297 persons have been administered the vaccine, thus reaching just 11,1% of the target population.

As far as the cholera outbreak is concerned, as of July 20th 2022, a total of 9.970 cases have been detected with 187 deaths. 644 new cases and 10 deaths were reported over the past 3 months with the most affected regions being the Centre, East, West, Littoral and South West.

The minister says investigations are ongoing in affected areas to identify contamination sources. Vaccination according to the Minister, continues and should be intensified in the days ahead with the reception of new stocks of vaccines.
