The Cameroon Baptist Convention (CBC) observed its 2022 Medical Day of Prayer on Sunday August 28th across CBC churches, with the day’s offerings going to support destitute patients who are unable to pay their medical bill in CBC hospitals.
The CBC Medical Day of Prayer theme for this year was based on the general CBC theme for 2022: The Legs of Shalom, Truth and Equity culled from Isaiah 1:17 and Prov.12:17.
The CBC Health Services operates under the motto: The CBC Health Board seeks to assist in the provision of care to all, who need it as an expression of Christian love and as a means of witness, in order that they might be brought to God through Jesus Christ. Thus the Health Board shall provide exemplary health care with genuine compassion and with overriding purpose of evangelical witness, based on Matthew 28:19-20.
The CBC through its Health Services, runs 7 hospitals and over 50 health centers and integrated health centers across Cameroon.
According to the organization’s website, unpaid medical bills for the 2021 financial year stood at a whopping CFA 643,703,987 tallied from 42 of its hospitals and health centers.
In spite of this, the CBC chose yesterday to support the thousands of Cameroonians who visit her health facilities and require treatment but cannot afford it or have been treated and have no money to pay for their treatment.
The CBC Health Services under the leadership of Prof. Tih Pius has championed things such as the inclusive education of people with disabilities, demystifying and treating clubfoot and cleft lip as well as being one of the leading providers of HIV/AIDS treatment under the PEPFAR project funded by the US Government.
