CAS rejects request by 47 amateur clubs against FECAFOOT

The Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) has rejected a request sent by the Association of Amateur Football Clubs of Cameroon (ACFAC) on June 4, calling for a suspension of the FECAFOOT-appointed staff of the national team.

47 member clubs wrote to CAS asking for action to be taken against the first resolution of the FECAFOOT Executive Committee session of May 8, on the appointment of a technical, administrative, and medical staff for the Indomitable Lions.

CAS turned down the request on Friday, June 7.

The decision prompted wide reactions, many of which the AFCAC said were conveying the wrong message.

The association pointed out that it had asked the Lausanne court to place a suspension on the FECAFOOT coaching staff until June 12, while maintaining the one put “at the disposal of FECAFOOT” by the State until June 12 as well.

It said the rejection by CAS implies that Cameroon “is not exposed” to consequences from the current situation in the country’s football setup, with the two FIFA World Cup qualification matches coming up against Cape Verde and Angola.

The association of amateur clubs noted that CAS has not validated any of the two staffs. It indicated that a verdict is yet to be given.
