Cameroon’s U17 volleyball girls suffer second defeat in Abuja

Cameroon lost to Nigeria 1-3 (19-25, 25-20, 25-13, 25-22) in their second match of the ongoing 2023 Girl’s U17 African Nations Volleyball Championship in Abuja Nigeria.
Cameroon used height advantage to win the opening set 25-19 against a Nigerian side that squandered opportunities and failed to pick loose balls.
When the second set began, Nigeria led Cameroon by 7-1, as setter, Martha Anebi distributed to Mirabel Onyegwu and Pamela Bawa who both utilized the balls getting vital points for Nigeria to cruise to victory with a 25-20 win.
The third set went in favour of Nigeria as the combination of Mirabel Onyegwu, Pamela Bawa served Nigeria a wider win of 25-13 points. Both teams had equal strength in the fourth set winning points till the 20th before Nigeria took four straight points to reach 24. Cameroon fought hard winning two points but Nigeria got the last point to win 25-22.
The win is Nigeria’s first victory in the current tournament.
