Cameroonian reporter gets into testy exchange with White House press secretary

By Hans Ngala

Simon Ateba, a Cameroonian news reporter who is the White House correspondent for Today News Africa had a rather tense exchange with White House press secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre.
A video filmed earlier this week, but which CNA only saw today, shows Ateba and Jean-Pierre having a rather tense exchange with the former trying to ask a question to the latter who seemed intransigent in answering it.
Jean-Pierre who is America’s first openly homosexual press secretary stormed out of the press conference she was giving when Ateba kept pressing her to answer his questions which Jean-Pierre had termed ‘disrespectful’.
Ateba later appeared on Tucker Carlson’s show claiming that “It’s been a total catastrophe, a real nightmare covering the Biden White House…” and that he was the “voice of Africa in the US…” and that “the level of discrimination against me and against African journalists in the White House is astounding. It’s disgraceful…”.
Ateba has worked in Nigeria for nine years investigating the link between religion and wealth and also investigating the plight of Nigerian refugees who fled Boko Haram attacks and went to Cameroon.
It is unclear whether Jean-Pierre really hates Ateba simply for the fact that he “does not have an American accent” and is also a “foreigner”, or whether there is something more to this.
