Cameroonian Maurice Njiandoh wins African Plant Nutrition Scholar Award
Maurice Njiandoh Mbeboh, a doctorate student at the University of Buea was amongst the 10 African student winners of the African Plant Nutrition Scholar Award 2023.
They will each receive a cash price of $2,000, over 1.2 million fcfa.
According to the African Plant Nutrition Institutes Director General, Dr. Kaushik Majumdar, the scholars from ten African countries were selected from advanced science programs focusing on plant nutrition and the management of nutrients applied to crops in Africa.
“The academic institutions these young people represent, and their professors and advisers, can be proud of their student’s accomplishments,” he stated.
Maurice Njiandoh Mbeboh carried out a Ph.D. thesis that focused on Evaluating the Effects of Plant Growth-Promoting Microorganisms and Plant Bioactive Materials on Soil Fertility, Plant Nutrition, and Soybean Grain Yield and it aimed at providing the best bet management practices that can restore the soil functionality, enhance soybean nutrition as well as grain yield.
Supported by the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University and the OCP Group S.A., the award seeks to encourage the brightest minds to focus on the continued advancement of the science of crop nutrition across Africa.
