Cameroonian Junior Researcher Wins Ph.D. FWO Scholarship Program In Belgium
The junior researcher, Funeh Cyprine, who hails from the northwest region won the prestigious Research Foundation Flanders (FWO) Ph.D. scholarship in strategic basic research in Belgium, worth over FCFA 85 million.
The money is expected to cover his Ph.D. research for a period of 4 years. He is researching on developing novel radiopharmaceuticals for targeted radionuclide therapy of cancer.
“I have worked so hard looking for opportunities that can put me on the world stage to research and contribute to cancer science. I am grateful my work is being recognized and I have been given the opportunity to express my knowledge in a field I am passionate about in providing solutions that can help millions of people around the globe suffering from cancer.”, Funeh Cyprine told CNA in an interview.
Funeh has used this opportunity to encourage hardworking students “especially those from poor backgrounds, like me that they can achieve their dreams.”
However, this is not the first scholarship he has received so far! He had previously received a scholarship on his project from his university the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), a mandate which started on October 1, 2021.
