Cameroon Should Stay Clear Of Our Struggle, Or Face The Consequences- BNL Leader
The leader of Biafra Nation League, BNL, a separatist group in Nigeria has said that their military and paramilitary wings stationed in the Bakassi peninsular, Ndian division in the southwest region will start attacking bases controlled by Cameroon government forces.
Princewill Chimezie Richards says the decision to start attacking Cameroon is due to her support for Nigeria against the Biafrans-
“We are in charge of Bakassi peninsular and have vowed never to allow Cameroon to exercise full sovereignty. We have issued series of warnings.” He said in a statement on July 17, 2021.
“We are under threats, both countries are threats to us. They also will recall what happened in 2016 where a militant group hijacked a foreign vessel…that shows that we control the peninsular. We are not here to advertise our security and paramilitary wing or whatever, but we are going to return Bakassi to full-scale insurgency and we mean it and we are going to do it”
This reaction comes in the wake of an anti-secessionist deal signed between Cameroon and Nigeria at Aso Rock.
Cameroon’s Commonwealth Delegate at the Ministry of External Relations, Felix Mbayu was the bearer of a special message from President Paul Biya to his Nigerian counterpart, Mohamadou Buhari. General Buhari gave his unflinching support for a Cameroon, one and indivisible.
But the Biafrans say Cameroon should concentrate on the war in her country than supporting the Nigerian government for the arrest IPOB leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
