Cameroon military ambushes, Kills alleged separatist in Bamenda

On Sunday, March 23, 2025, Cameroon military forces ambushed and killed an individual alleged to be a Banso ( from Bui division) Amba Boy in Mile 3 Nkwen, Bamenda. The victim, reportedly an escapee from the Bui Unity Warriors in Sop, Jakiri-Sop Division, was accused of harassing civilians, including bike riders, and extorting money.

Eyewitnesses claim the individual was responsible for kidnappings and torture in the neighborhood around St. Paul Secondary School Nkwen. According to sources, the military recovered a phone from the victim, which they allegedly used to track other suspects.

Some residents expressed relief and others were concerned about the repercussions of this on the security situation in the area because the friends of the victim might come for revenge.
