Rigobert Song says objectives attained despite focus on his failures

Rigobert Song has said it is needless to focus on his defeats with the Lions, arguing that he has not failed to attain set objectives.

The coach highlighted his first milestone with the national team which was the qualification for the World Cup in Qatar, as well as the AFCON 2023 qualification.

Song was speaking while announcing his list of players selected for Cameroon’s first two games of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, and added that friendlies are not his main concern.

“For friendly matches, I wasn’t told to go and win but it is part of preparation. For me, that is not what interests me. I know what I’m looking for. It is not victories in friendly matches.”

“I’m in the process of learning, there have been several errors and lack of vigilance at certain points,” he pointed out.

The coach assured the public that he will take more precaution.

“I no longer have to commit any error. So these two matches you will see a competitive team that will make the difference. Let Cameroonians not be stressed.“

Song unveiled a list of 24 players that will play against Mauritius in Douala on November 17, and Libya in Benghazi on November 21.
