Cameroon delegation in Kinshasa for 9th Francophone Games
Cameroon will join over forty other countries that will be participating in the 9th Francophone Games in Kinshasa, Congo, from July 28 to August 6.
A delegation of 186 members that left Yaounde on Wednesday, is already settled and waiting for the opening ceremony on Friday, July 28, at the Martyrs Stadium.
The athletes from Cameroon will compete in several disciplines including athletics, basketball, football, judo, boxing, table tennis, sculpting, dancing, and literature.
During a farewell ceremony in Yaounde on Tuesday, Sports Minister Narcisse Moelle Kombi encouraged the athletes to better the results which were obtained in 2017, during the previous games in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. Cameroon finished 7th with 21 medals.
The Francophone Games are held every four years since 1989, with member countries, mostly French-speaking, and former colonies of France, competing in several artistic and sports disciplines.
