FECAFOOT-MINSEP conflict: Calm returns as Eto’o and Marc Brys agree to work together
The turnout of events at the Cameroon Football Federation on Thursday, May 30, has given way for the restoration of peace in Cameroon football after weeks of conflict. A unique coaching staff has been agreed on.
After Eto’o promised Marc Brys he was not coming back when the Belgian decided to leave the federation head office after a vicious altercation on Tuesday, he was summoned again on Thursday for another meeting that would serve as the point of reconciliation for the two parties.
A scheduled press conference by the FECAFOOT-appointed interim coach, Martin Ndtoungou Mpile that same day, was cancelled. The interim staff no longer exists as Eto’o apologised for overreacting in their previous meeting and assured Marc Brys that he has the federation’s support.
The administrative, technical and medical staff appointed by FECAFOOT on May 9, was retained, with Marc Brys as the head coach, his assistant Joachim Mununga, Ndtoungou Mpile and David Pagou for first and second assistant coaches. Idris Carlos Kameni also remains the goalkeeper coach.
Some of the selected players on Marc Brys’ list which had been validated by FECAFOOT, have already started arriving in the country. They are expected to begin camping on June 2, ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Cape Verde on June 8 in Yaounde, and against Angola in Luanda on June 11.
