CAF to include continental players in CHAN
By Arrey Bate
Continental players may have the chance to represent their countries at the African Nations Championship (CHAN) according to a statement from CAF’s president, Patrice Motsepe.
“The most important thing is that African players be recognised and take part in the competition,” Motsepe stated.
”You may be an Algerian player, play in a club in Egypt, and represent your country at CHAN,” he added.
Unlike the previous editons that have seen only home-based players participate, this new evolution might be implemented in the upcoming edition in 2024.
Based on the latest information provided, Motsepe assured that “We will study this point in the Executive Committee.”
The aim of the CHAN has always been to give homegrown players opportunities to represent their nations and promote their home leagues globally.
Kenya will host the 2024 competition that will run from January 13 to February 4, 2024.
