CAF Fines Egypt 100, 000 USD for Boycotting Press Conference Before a Quarter Final Game Against Morocco
The CAF Disciplinary Panel has imposed a fine of USD 100,000, of which USD 50,000 is suspended, on the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) for breaching the media protocols and regulations of the TotalEnergy Africa Cup of Nations Cameroon 2021.
The decision comes after the Egyptian FA failed to honour the pre-match press conference scheduled for 29 January 2022 as part of the quarter-final match between Morocco and Egypt at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaounde.
The media and rights holders had waited nearly two hours for Egypt’s arrival for the press conference.
The Egyptian Federation has 60 days to pay the USD 50,000 fine.
The sum of USD 50,000 will be suspended on condition that the Egyptian federation is not found guilty of a similar offence during the Africa Cup of Nations TotalEnergies, Cameroon 2021.
