CAF Awards: Ajara and Indomitable lions among finalists
Less than two days to the CAF awards, the Confederation of African Football has published the lists of finalists in 13 categories involved.
Striker Nchout Njoya of the Cameroon national team is among the top three for the women’s player of the year title. Four lionesses had been shortlisted but Ajara is the only one among them who made it to the final list. She is contending with four-time winner Asisat Oshoala of Nigeria who unfortunately left the 2022 Africa women’s cup of nations early due to injury.

Edouard Mendy, Mohammed Salah and Sadio Mane are the top three in the men’s player of the year award.
Cameroon only features again when the men’s national team o the year category comes up. Egypt and Senegal are their competitors to the title this time.
The award committee has explained that there is no top three for the women’s team of the year this time due to lack of competitions and so the winner will be announced after the final game of the ongoing Africa women’s cup of nations is played.
The awards gala takes place this July 21 at 8PM local time in Rabat, Morocco.
