Buea: Suspected pedophile escapes gendarme custody
Simon, who is said to be a former teacher, escaped from the gendarme custody in Buea, with heavy crimes hanging around his neck.
Simen Richard, a former teacher at Nabesk Buea and CCC Kumba, is currently wanted by the authorities. He was recently arrested and taken to the gendarmerie brigade in Buea, opposite the Baptist High School, for allegedly impregnating a 17-year-old minor in Buea town.
Sources have revealed that a similar case was reported about Simen Richard last year, with WhatsApp conversations revealing how he promises GCE pass questions to his victims and, in return, asks for sex.
Other students of Nebesk told CNA the suspect was forced to marry a student whom he got pregnant in 2024.
However, Mr. Simen was declared missing Monday morning in Buea, raising serious concerns about the vigilance of the gendarmes.
The Gendarmes reported that Simen Richard asked to make a call and used that to escape, but this explanation was not welcomed by the population, still asking themselves how such a suspect could escape from the vigilance of well-trained gendarmes. His escape pushed the gendarmes to add another lock on Simen Richard’s home.
Youths of Wonalyonga have expressed their anger and are scratching every cona in search of Simen. The president of the Wonalyonga Youth Council, Isaac Ngon,i together with the village authorities, is pleading with the population of Buea to join them in the search and has provided a number (679 667514 ) to reach out if found.
