Buea, Muyuka sleepless as Amba fighters rain bullets on cars
A 10-day lockdown imposed by Separatists fighters turned bloody in Buea and Muyuka Subdivisions. At least five deaths were confirmed in Ekona, the outskirts of Muyuka town on Tuesday, September 6, 2022.
A bus attack was carried out by Ambazonia fighters who were enforcing a 10 says lockdown in the South West region. A bus belonging to the Golden Transport Agency was targeted around Mile 30 in Ekona- along the Kumba- Buea road. The driver who was popularly called “In-Charge” died on the spot.
Four other passengers died while three were injured.
In Yoke, a bus from Douala to Kumba was attacked on the same day but no injuries were recorded.
On Wednesday, Ambazonia fighters burned down a private car plying the Buea road. The attack occurred around Mile 14.
Separatists surprised everyone with thunderous gunshots that sent Buea inhabitants into hibernation.
The town has enjoyed relative calm for weeks before Wednesday’s incident.
Gunshots were also fired at the town’s busiest bus stop at Mile 17, leaving traders, passengers, and drivers to run for their safety.
