Buea: Imam draws faithful back to virtues of Islam

Moslem faithful in Buea, South West regional headquarters were urged to distinguish themselves by putting the dictates of their faith into practice. The Imam of the Buea Central Mosque, Sheikh Mohammed Aboubakar dished out the exhortation on March 31 at the esplanade of the Buea Town stadium. In which prayers were made to end a thirty-day fasting ritual. This marked the “Eid Mubarak” feast.
The Moslem cleric, putting the celebration in context, explained that it is an obligation. Which is one of the pillars of Islam to go through thirty days of intense fasting. He said the act purified the faithful who carried it out.
The sermon was captioned, “Islam, a complete way of life”. In it, Sheikh Mohammed stated that the worship of Allah could not be independent of good works. “You must know that you can’t reach God without reaching out to humanity,” he highlighted.
The Imam of the Buea Central Mosque went on to admonish the faithful to keep their relationship with one another at home and work intact. He noted that the koran had in it, guidelines of examplelary living. Such that the Moslem faithful must be inspired by its teaching in living.

Moreover, Imam Abubakar exhorted his hearers to take to heart all the principles of Islam. So that they can be whole and right before their creator. He reflected with shock that the South West was pronounced the second most corrupt region in the country. Going by classifications of the Anti Corruption Commission abbreviated CONAC.
“Before we thought that worshippers were those who were upright. Today, we’ve seen them live very corrupt lives, whether Muslims or of other religions,” the religious official regretted.
The prayer, which brought together hundreds of Muslim faithful, took place in the presence of the Secretary-General at the South West Governor’s office, Acha Nkwenti. He was accompanied by municipal authorities and representatives of some Christian denominations.
