A Thanksgiving Service by the family of Dr. Hannah Etonde Mbua has raised the sum of FCFA 5.6 Million to go towards the construction of the new PC Molyko sanctuary in Buea.
Dr. Etonde, who serves as Regional Delegate of Secondary Education for the South West, was thanking God on the 25th anniversary of her career as an educational administrator.
The Service on Sunday, June 22, was officiated by the Rev. Dr. Tabi Pascaline, Rev. Akupa Victor and Rev. Ngoe Nelson and was attended amongst others by the Paramount ruler of Buea, Chief Dr Esuka Endeley, Hon. Meotu Paul Njie, a cross section of secondary education stakeholders in the South West and some of Dr. Etonde’s former students.
Speaking during the service, Dr. Etonde said, “By God’s grace, 25 years straight, the Lord has kept me there–as a school administrator. I can only thank Him”. She also hailed the efforts of her husband whom she said has been supportive over the years, while encouraging other women to work towards self-reliance.

“I consider myself a human being, I consider myself a civil servant, and when work is concerned, I don’t consider myself a woman,” Dr Etonde said, clarifying that gendered roles do not obstruct her from the execution of her tasks.
Also present at the event were Mr Ngundu Francis, her pioneer Divisional Delegate who hailed Dr. Etonde’s discipline and God-fearing nature. He recollected the compliments of her years of work with her from community members. Several speakers took turns to praise Dr Etonde, whom they described as a Proverbs 31 woman. They said she was a symbol of humility, hard work, consistency and growth. Her financial honesty was pinpointed as a hallmark of her interaction as head of several schools around Fako. Moreover, her efforts to ensure that schools remained open in the face of the socio-political crisis plaguing the North West and South West regions for the last eight years were complemented.
Apart from her public service, Dr. Mbua is notable to the Paramount Chiefdom of Buea and a title holder in the Great Soppo Second-class Chiefdom. She is a councillor to the Buea Municipality and President General of the Fako Women’s N’endinge (FAWONE). Dr. Mbua is currently serving her second five-year mandate as chairperson of PC Molyko. She has a litany of awards to her name from credible institutions and is a mother of four who has been married for over three decades.
