Breaking: Paul Pogba banned for four years over doping

Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba, has been given a four-year ban following his doping test which came out positive in August 2023.

The France international was found positive for testosterone metabolites following the Juventus-Udinese match last August. He sat out during the match, but played the club’s next two games against Bologna and Empoli in September, before his suspension was announced.

The decision handing the four-year ban comes after the Italian Anti-Doping Tribunal accepted the request of the anti-doping prosecutor’s office to pass the verdict.

Juventus have not made a statement about the announcement.

The 30-year-old is expected to appeal the ban in the Court of Arbitration for Sports in Lausanne. It is possible for the four-year suspension to be reduced if it is proven that it was not intensional.

The ban will start from the time he was first tested positive, which is from August 2023 to August 2027.
