Colonel Ekosso Lysonge Francis passed away early this morning at the CES/CNSP at approximately 01:30, CNA can confirm from impeccable source.
CNA learned that he died after a brief illness, hospital sources said. CNA however gathered from a reliable source that he was hinted that he would be promoted to the rank of General and he went drinking with some close friends but developed malaise days after.
The top military officer from Bakossi was last seen on Friday night drinking with close friends in Yaoundé.
In September 2020, the Bishop Rogan College Sopo Buea alumni was appointed Deputy National Coordinator of Cameroon’s National Disarmament, Demobilization, and Reintegration (DDR) program, which aims to reintegrate former separatist fighters and Boko Haram militants into society.
Beyond his military career, Ekosso had an extensive academic background. He held master’s degrees in military science and risk and Disaster Management, as well as a PhD in Public Administration and Political Science. Before his death, he taught at various institutions, including Copperstone University in Zambia, the Catholic University of Central Africa, and the Cameroon War College. His expertise encompassed disaster management, strategy, and defense studies.
Ekosso was also a consultant with the United Nations Disaster Assessment and Coordination Teams, contributing to global humanitarian efforts.
