Body of ADF commander displayed in Guzang market

The lifeless body of the supreme General of the Ambazonia Defense Forces, a separatist group fighting against government forces in the North west and South west regions, Emmanuel Efang alias Big number, was displayed at the Guzang market in Batibo subdivision, North West region.

Guzang is the fief of the deceased separatist fighter and displaying the corpse there meant war victory for the government forces who take his death as a big trophy.

Several traders and onlookers came to watch the corpse of the deceased supreme commander whom many confirmed held the area with iron hands- Efang was the de facto leader of Batibo and the environs which he took as his headquarter.

In January, Gov’t forces captured ADF supreme commander while he was receiving treatment in a hospital bed in Mbingo. Emmanuel Efang had been shot and injured during an invasion of his hideout. He ran with bullet wounds but later decided to treat himself in a hospital that could handle his situation. His whereabouts were later disclosed to the government which sent forces to capture him alive, but he was later killed , with allegations that he was strangled.

The Director of the Bamenda Regional Hospital had communicated to Efang’s family to remove his corpse from the mortuary within 8 days, or else it would be disposed of, if they failed to show up. But many saw this as a trap to arrest his family members and investigate them.
