Bishop’s 48th Conference is hope for NW/SW – Bishop Bibi

The 48th conference of Cameroon Bishops is hope of recovery for the regions of the North West and South currently in an eight year long socio-political said the Bishop of the Diocese of Buea at the opening of the National Episcopal Conference of Cameroon (NECC).

The event on January 6, coincided with the dedication of the completed Divine Mercy Co-Cathedral, Molyko. His Lordship Michael Bibi, the Buea Bishop stated that, the dedication of the cathedral is also a sign of hope and joy for it’s completion, fifteen years after it’s commencement by Emeritus Bishop Immanuel Bushu. “That all who come here will encounter the mercy of God”, noted Mgr Bibi.

The Bishop of Buea in his homily also mentioned that, the seminar which brings together the Bishops of Cameroon for a week gives hope that “progressively, the Anglophone Crisis is coming to an end”.

Bishop Bibi said the theme of the conference, “Synodility” is of essence to the church. “It is a way forward to create an atmosphere within the church, that includes everyone, eapecially the poor, the marginalised, creating a safe space where everyone feels welcomed, acknowledged and allowed to participate.”

Bernard Okalia Bilai, South West Governor called on the prelates to use the weeklong meeting towards sensitizing the public to seek peace, and resume school activities. The conference bringing together bishops across Cameroon, resident and retired will conclude on January 11.
