Belgian authorities call on Cameroonians to avoid using forged travel documents

The Director General of the Belgian Immigration Office, Freddy Roosemont, has called on Cameroonians to ensure that their documents are authentic, before embarking on a journey to Belgium.

The immigration official told media men in Yaounde during a press conference on June 7, that there is an increase in the number of fake documents which is affecting the legal migration procedure.

Wednesday’s press briefing highlighted the need for collaboration with the Cameroon government. “One of the parts of that collaboration is exchanging of information. It’s getting the real information to the people” Freddy Roosemont said.

The authorities pointed out that Cameroonians represent the majority of the foreign student population in Belgium.

At least 20,000 Cameroonians reside in Belgium officially, the immigration officials noted.
