Baptist Institute of Health Sciences (BIHS) Graduates Its 12th Batch
The Baptist Institute of Health Sciences (BIHS) located at Mbingo Baptist Hospital has graduated its 12th batch of students on November 22. The cohort comprised the first batch of graduates from the Masters in Public Health Program (MPH).
The graduation ceremony occurred alongside that of the Pan-African Academy of Christian Surgeons (PAACS) and Christian Internal Medicine Specialization (CIMS) – two medical specialties focused on training surgeons and internists who approach healthcare delivery from a holistically Christian worldview.
Addressing the graduates, the CBC Director of Health Services, Mr. Ngum Samuel commissioned them to demonstrate Christ-centred care and be the light in the medical field in Cameroon and wherever they go.
The graduation comes at a time when health facilities in the region have been adversely affected by the ongoing conflict in the region and also at a time when the Cameroon Baptist Convention (CBC) which owns the hospital, has been going through its own internal challenges. The graduates are a welcome addition to the medical specialists in Cameroon where most medical doctors prefer to run away from because of poor pay and working conditions.
