Bangem: SW regional assembly tells parents to bury fear, send children to school
Parents in Bangem, Kupe-Manenguba division of the South West region have been encouraged to bury fear, ignore threats as well as intimidation and send their children to school in order to safeguard their children’s future.
This call was made by the South West Regional Assembly through its representatives who visited Bangem to evaluate how effective school resumption is in the locality:
” We were sent by the South West regional assembly to see how effective resumption for the 2022-2023 academic year in Bangem is. We have noticed that many parents are still living in fear there but we need them to know that education is a fundamental right. Please send the children to school.” Hon. Same Samuel Mesape, a representative of the SW regional assembly said.
He went further to assure parents that the SW Regional Assembly together with Administrative authorities have taken measure to protect and support the children.
“Many parents complain of financial constraints to enroll their children in schools because their sources of income have been crippled by the anglophone crisis. We are here to tell them that they don’t need to worry because the SW Regional Assembly is working hand in hand with government authorities to assist them in everyway” Hon. Mesape added.
Teachers who on their part have not been at their duty posts due to fear of the unknown were also encouraged by William Ekema, Senior Divisional Officer for Kupe-Manenguba division to get back to their respective classrooms and impact knowledge to the children who brave the odds to get to school.
