Bandits break into Edea II council building for money
Armed bandits have attacked the Edea 2 council in the Sanaga Maritime Division of the Littoral region. The men reportedly got the security guard on duty tied up before forcing themselves into the building through a window they had broken:
“They hit me hard severally, tied me up and left me in a box room. They asked me where money is kept and I said money is usually kept in the bank and not in the office. I made them understand that workers have gone for six months now without salary. I told them at times it’s the deputy mayor who gives us some money from his pockets to help us sustain ourselves until our money comes before we refund,” explained the security guard.
Doubtful of the security guard’s words, the bandits burgled into the council building and ransacked the offices in search of money they believed was kept there.
Unable to find any money, they carried valuable items and took-off.
The Mayor, Jean Mbei Njen debunked information that the council’s safe was carried away by the criminals. He said this act will not scare the council from working to serve the people while assuring the population that the incident is now being investigated by forces of law and order.
