By Stephen TADAHA

The Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji paid tributes to the 9 persons who were killed at the Bamenyam market square, in Galim subdivision, West Region on November 21, 2023.

This was during a visit on Thursday, December 14, 2023, to evaluate the security situation in the subdivision which has been rocked by separatist attacks in Bamenyam and the Bagam Chieftaincy crisis. His first stopover was at the Bamenyam market square where 9 persons were killed recently following a raid from separatist fighters from the neighboring North West Region.

The Minister while extending his heartfelt condolences and that of the Head of State to the bereaved families, gave reassurance of the Government’s willingness to track down the perpetrators.

His next stopover was at the Galim ceremonial ground where he urged the population to collaborate with security forces by denouncing suspects.

“It is sad to know that such incidents are done by criminals who are our children. If you have a child as such, why not denounce him? Even the Bible says that if a tree branch is disturbed, we should cut it off. If you don’t denounce such criminals because they are your brothers or children, you are putting your own life at risk ” said Atanga Nji.

Paul Atanga Nji rounded up his visit to the West Region with a security meeting at the West Governor’s office in the presence of Governor Awa Fonka Augustine and all 8 Senior Divisional Officers in the Region.

It was revealed during the meeting that the Menoua division is enjoying a relatively calm atmosphere while the Bamboutos and Noun divisions are threatened by separatist incursions.

The MINAT boss recommended vigilance from administrative and security authorities, especially during the festive period.
