Far North: Minister Atanga Nji oversees departure of aid for flood victims

Yaoundé, Cameroon( CNA) – The Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji, oversaw the departure of a significant aid convoy bound for flood-affected areas in the Far North Region on Tuesday, September 17, 2024. The convoy, consisting of truckloads of essential supplies, was dispatched from Yaoundé’s May 20 Boulevard.

Accompanied by the Governor of the Center Region, Naseri Paul Bea, and other government officials, Minister Atanga Nji inspected the goods to ensure that all necessary items were included. The aid packages included mattresses, blankets, tents, mosquito nets, food supplies, sanitary kits, and other vital necessities.

A message from the Presidential couple was conveyed by Minister Atanga Nji, announcing that a total of fifty trucks would be transporting aid to the Far North Region to address the urgent needs of flood victims. The distribution plan involves 22 trucks departing from Yaoundé, 10 trucks leaving Maroua for Yagoua, 12 trucks already stationed in Yagoua, and additional trucks from Douala.

The aid, valued at approximately 1.9 billion FCFA, is expected to provide relief to thousands of people affected by the floods. Minister Atanga Nji gave instructions to the head of the convoy and emphasized the importance of proper distribution of the aid in the coming days.
