Bamenda: New filling centre to sell cooking gas at 6,500 FCFA

The recently inaugurated Bamenda gas plant located at Bangshie has gone operational after an inauguration ceremony on May 9.

Inaugurated by Water Resoruces Minister, Gaston Eloundou Essomba, the Centre will sell a gas 12.5kg gas for CFA 6,500frs, according to the General Manager of the Hydrocarbons Prices Stabilisation Fund, Okie Johnson.

During the event, Essomba challenged the population of the region to make good use of the facility, saying it was a donation from President Paul Biya.

For his part, Okie Johnson, the General Manager of the Hydrocarbons Prices Stabilisation Fund, CSPH who was present at the event added that there will be high quality and quantity of gas in the entire Region at normal price.

“Taking into consideration that gas is consumed by everybody, we have a homologated price of CFA 6,500. We will make sure that at this centre, gas is sold at CFA 6,500. The North West Region will be able to have quality gas, which will be available all the time,” Okie Johnson assured.

This was described by many as a great opportunity to the population, who are presently buying 12.5kg of gas at 7500frs and 8000frs.

The Centre whose construction began in 2022, has the capacity to fill 600 to 650 cylinders per hour, according to the management of the construction company, Gens Construction Ltd.
