Bamenda III: DO calls on population to embrace peace, forget separation

The Divisional Officer of Bamenda III subdivision has called on the population of Nkwen and his subdivision at large to welcome peace, settle their land differences and quit from all the things that may separate them

Ayuni Austin, DO of Bamenda III made the call recently during the closing ceremony of the 2022 Bamenda III Council Festival of Heritage, Arts and Culture, FEHACU at the Nkwen Fon’s Palace

“We must embrace unity and development and If you people can leave aside your self interest and pride to come celebrate this festival, then we all must say no to terrorism, division and say yes to living together,” DO Ayuni said

The DO added that the people of Nkwen should use the cultural festival as a means to come together and say ‘no to the Anglophone crisis’

“We must say no to all those who are sponsoring this crisis,” DO added

While cautioning the population that the administration must not be the one to settle their land disputes, the Divisional Officer added that the people should learn how to solve some of these disputes without involving the administration.

“Use the same scenario to settle your differences, especially land issues. The administration is a stranger to your land, don’t let the administration to settle your disputes,”

The DO, who was representative of the Governor at the closing ceremony, appreciated the people of Nkwen for turning out massively to showcase and exhibit their culture.

“Culture is the people’s identity, you can see it through the dance groups, the dressings. Thank you all, especially those who honored the invitations,” he ended

The second edition of the Bamenda III Council Festival of Heritage, Arts and Culture held at the Nkwen Fon’s Palace ended with award of prizes to dance groups and individuals who took part in the festivities.
