As the visit of Prime Minister, Chief Dr. Joseph Dion Ngute to Bamenda draws near, contractors and stakeholders are working in a mad rush to complete ongoing projects, with some being done overnight.
The 7th Session of the Steering Committee of the Presidential Plan for the Reconstruction and Development of the North West and South West Regions, PPRD-NW/SW, is scheduled for July 4, 2025, and the Prime Minister’s inspection of these projects is a major highlight of the visit.
Construction works on the Welcome to Bamenda- École de champion to New road junction stretch has been going with speed for the past days. Recently, the ministry Public Works through its North West regional delegation started the compensation of victims, whose properties will be destroyed in the course of construction on the Bamenda urban crossing.
The situation is same at the Proximity stadium in Ntaafi, Bamenda I Subdivision, where works have been progressing day and night recently.
The recent grading on the New road junction to Mobile Nkwen, filling of potholes along the Cow Street stretch and the Miss Ngeng-Veterinary junction have been done ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit.
Contractors working on the 365-kilometre Bamenda Ring Road, particularly the Kumbo-Nkambe stretch, are accelerating their work to ensure timely completion.
As PM Dion Ngute steps into Bamenda on Thursday evening, his two-day working session in the city will also involve visit to key PPRD project sites in the domain of education, water and sanitation, health and social services, and economic recovery and livelihoods.
Before leaving Bamenda on Saturday, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for the macadamisation of Bamenda’s intra-urban road networks. This project will improve urban connectivity, ease mobility for residents and businesses, and contribute to the region’s economic growth and development.
