Bamenda: 4 alleged separatist fighters join DDR center

The Disarmament, Demobilisation, and Reintegration (DDR) center of Bamenda in the North West region have registered 4 new inmates.

The General Granpa of Awing, in Santa subdivision alongside three of his aides popularly known as Shankiki, Brainbox, and Lastborn have dropped their arms.
According to their leader, General Grandpa, it was a personal decision that he took and was not forced by anyone. He admits he made mistakes and is ready to amend them:

“It was a personal decision that I took, it is said that when a child makes a mistake, he turns to ask for pardon. I know that I have hurt people in the past based on anger – that is the reason I have returned to make amends.”

The four, before arriving at the DDR center dropped their arms with the Awing Gendermarie Brigade Commander.

The Coordinator of the DDR center in Bamenda, Kum Henry Echu has praised the four former separatist fighters for their new move.

“We received three very close associates of General Grandpa and later in the evening he dropped his arms and presented himself to the authorities. We are very proud to say that it is a great achievement that the young people are beginning to understand that the head of state wants them to drop their arms and nothing will happen to them. All of them at the Bamenda DDR center are doing quite well.”

The dropping of arms by these separatist fighters comes at a time when another attack was announced along the Kumba- Muyuka highway in the Banga Bakundu village of the South West region on February 17th.
