Bafoussam: Police arrest three gunmen who robbed a money transfer kiosk
Three men who allegedly fired gunshots in the air, over a month ago at Carrefou le Maire in Bafoussam West region, to scare the population from perturbing their broad daylight operation at a money transfer kiosk have been tracked down by the police.
“On October 9, 2023, these armed bandits carried out a spectacular robbery at Carrefou le Maire. They arrived and began shooting to disperse and instill fear within the population. They got inside the kiosk, stole Seven million FCFA, and took more than 20 telephones.” Michel Nkake Bekombo, Head of the anti-crime unit of the West judicial police recalled.
After the attack, all three suspects, immediately switched town to be on the safe side. Unfortunately, the police dragnet was vast enough to trap them.
“Our investigation permitted us to arrest the three thieves in Douala, in their possession; two locally fabricated pistols, 10 cartridges, and a matchet. They acknowledged all the offense levied on them.” Stressed, commissioner Michel Nkake Bekombo.
While the trio has been handed over to judges, the owner of the burgled money transfer kiosk, who was shot during that operation is reportedly responding to treatment.
