Bafoussam crowned cleanest in west region
The city of Bafoussam will represent the West region at the National Cleanliness Contest that will take place in Bertoua on October 3rd 2022. The city has been declared the cleanest town of the region by the regional commission of the clean city contest for the West. The commission headed by Governor Awa Fonka Augustine made known the result on August 31st, 2022.
The results indicate that the City was ranked first with a score of 83% amongst 8 other towns shortlisted.
With 82.125%, the town of Bangangté in the Ndé division is ranked second followed by Dschang in the Menoua division with a 79.375%.
Other towns on the list shortlisted are Kouoptamo, Bandjoun, Galim Baham and Kekem. The National Cleanliness Contest launched by the ministry of housing and urban development will seek to crown the cleanest town in Cameroon on the World Habitat Day that will be observed on October 3rd.
Bafoussam has recently been undergoing a series of transformations in terms of infrastructural development with the improvement of its road network and electricity. Sanitation Wise, the city council has been applying hygienic and sanitary measures to ensure the cleanliness of the town is not tempered with.
The town is gradually dethroning Bangangté that has for long been leading the West in terms of Cleanliness.
