Bafoussam: catholics pray for peace as instructed by Pope

Catholic Christians under the Bafoussam Diocese have this August 14, 2023 answered to the Pope’s call for them to unite and pray for peace to reign in Cameroon.

The Christians turned out in their numbers at the Bafoussam Cathedral in the Houkaha neighborhood where a mass was said by the Bishop of Bafoussam in the presence of Reverend Vincello Marinelli, bearer of Pope Francis’ special message. Also present were Governors Awa Fonka Augustine of the West and Adolphe Lele Lafrique of the North West who, holding peace plants, prayed for peace in Cameroon and in the world.

In his homily, the Bishop of the Bafoussam Diocese, His Grace Paul Lontsie Kuene called on Christians to be transformed for peace to reign in Cameroon.

Pope Francis in an Angelus prayer session at the Vatican on Sunday, August 13, had called on Christians worldwide to pray for peace in Cameroon.

This second diocesan pilgrimage of the Bafoussam Diocese was therefore an occasion to answer to the Pope’s call and the paryer was also done in prelude to the Assumption day that is being observed this Tuesday August 15, 2023 by the Catholic community: a day they believe marks the bodily ascension of Mary, mother of Jesus Christ, into heaven.
