Bafoussam: 3 armed bandits on the run after staging spectacular robbery
Security officials in Bafoussam, West region of Cameroon have opened investigations to identify and arrest three armed bandits who attacked and robbed several mobile money transfer units at the “Carrefour le maire” neighborhood situated in the heart of the city at about 7:40pm on October 10, 2023.
Even though the panic and fear have now disappeared and activities are going on normally, the incident is still fresh in minds of witnesses.
“I heard the first sound but thought it was a usual tire puncture. Few minutes later I heard a second sound. That was when I went outside to find out what it really was. I noticed that it was a robbery at the junction,” a witness explained.
“It was like an action film. I have never seen this in my life,” a commercial bike rider who was stationed at the junction said.
“I saw someone coming out of my neighbour’s compound with a cutlass. When I asked if it was a robbery, he pulled out a pistol and fired a shot in the air. I immediately lay on the ground with my hands up,” another inhabitant of the area added.
The three armed bandits succeeded to escape with an undisclosed sum of money, leaving several bullet marks on the walls of the money transfer building.
