Baccalauréat: NW / SW performance drop
The General Baccalauréat in the French subsystem of education has recorded a 66.27% success rate this year. A total of 89.522 candidates have succeeded in getting a pass grade out of the 135.082 who sat for the exams.
As far as regional rankings are concerned, the Centre, West and Littoral regions are the top 3 performers with success rates of 71,96%, 70,88% and 68,70% respectively.
The bottom three on the rankings are the North West (8th) with a success rate of 53.16%, the Far North, (9th) with 50% and the North (10th) with 49.33%. Just to recall that the North West region was ranked 4th in 2021 meaning the region lost 4 places this year.
The South West region on its part has regressed from its first position last year to the 4th this year with a success rate of 65.82%. It is a general thought that the socio-political crisis rocking the two Engish-speaking regions have played a role in this drop due to constant ghost town days as well as repeated attacks in schools causing general fright and panic.
