Awing Development Association members vow to overcome crisis challenges
Awing, a village in Santa Subdivision, Mezam division of the North West region of Cameroon has for the past years seen its road infrastructure degrade and schools remain closed over last five years as a result of the ongoing socio-political crisis.
With the installation of new members of the executive bureau of the village development association, NACDA, hopes are high that these problems will soon be things of the past. The installation was done by the Fon of Awing HRM Fo Fozo II in a ceremony that gathered sons and daughters of the land from far and near. During the installation ceremony, the excecutive members were called upon to be agents of peace, development and unity in their respective communities.
As to what concerns the culture of the people, the youth wing president of the association put the promotion of their mother tongue as a priority while the women’s wing president revealed she will valorise their local delicacy (achu) by putting in place an achu competition in the days ahead. She also mentioned organizing capacity building workshops in the village to empower women.
These according to many, will go a long way to restore the culture which they say is rapidly degrading with the emergence of technology.
